Augustana volleyball players
Ellen Andrews and
Lisa Hoegh have been recognized by the North Central Conference for their stellar play last week. Andrews was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while Hoegh received the Setter of the Week award.
Andrews and Hoegh helped lead Augustana to a 2-1 record last week to improve to 12-3 on the season and 2-0 in the North Central Conference. The Vikings lost in 3 games to Southwest Missouri State to open the week. Augie then knocked off previously-unbeaten South Dakota in 4 games before sweeping St. Cloud State in 3 games.
Andrews, a 6-1 sophomore right side hitter from Bancroft, Neb., hit .301 and averaged 5.0 kills, 0.8 assists and had 5 service aces last week. She matched her career high with 23 kills in the win over South Dakota. Andrews followed that performance with 14 kills and only 2 errors (.333 attack percentage) in Augie's sweep of St. Cloud State.
Hoegh is a junior setter from Byron, Minn. She averaged 15.20 assists, 0.20 kills, 4.20 digs and 0.5 blocks per game in the 3 matches last week. Included in her totals was a career-high 69 assists against South Dakota. She also had a career-high 24 digs in that 4-game match. In addition, Augustana had a .191 overall attack percentage in the 3 matches, but a .216 percentage in the 2 NCC matches.
Andrews and Hoegh become the second and third Vikings to earn NCC Player of the Week honors this season.
Cayla Schroeder earned Defensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 10.
