Viking Women Harriers Garner Top 5 National Ranking, No. 3 in the Region

The Augustana women's cross country team cracked the top 5 in the national rankings, grabbing the No. 5 spot in this week's USTFCCCA Division II Women's Cross Country national rankings as well as the No. 3 ranking in the North Central Regional rankings, the USTFCCCA announced.

The Vikings are coming off a first-place finish at the St. Mary Invitational on Sept. 1. In that race, Augie placed 7 runners in the top 11. It is the only race the Vikings have participated in this season.

Augustana returns to competition this week at the 22nd Annual Roy Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota, on Saturday, Sept. 29. The Vikings will be 1 of 31 Division II and NAIA teams competing in the Maroon II race. All of the North Central Conference schools except Nebraska-Omaha will be participating in the race, which is scheduled to start at 9:45 a.m.
