Augustana Women's Golf Finishes Fifth at NSIC Fall Tournament

Final Results

The Augustana women's golf team finished fifth at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Women's Golf Fall Championships Sunday at the Hillcrest Country Club in St. Paul, Minn.

Battling, cold, rainy and windy condition, the Vikings shot 344 on Sunday to finish with a 36-hole total of 673. Augustana, which entered the day in a tie for fourth place at 329, finished three shots behind fourth place Upper Iowa, whisch finished at 670. Concordia-S. Paul won the team title with a 651. Winona State was second at 658, while Minnesota State Univeristy, Mankato was third at 668.

Individually, sophomore Kate Tobin led the Vikings by finishing in a tie for 13th place. She shot an 88 on Sunday to finish with a two-day total of 167 on the par-72 course. Laura Strautz finished one shot behind Tobin in a tie for 1th place at 168 after carding an 88 on Sunday. Meanwhile, Kaari Espeland tied for 18th place at 170 and Molly Leland tied for 23rd place at 173. Kelly Lauer rounded out the Vikings in 28th place at 176.

The final two rounds of the NSIC Championships will be held April 25-26 in Brookings, S.D.
