Augustana Women's Soccer Gets Sixth Shutout of the Season With 6-0 Win Over Wayne State

Box Score

The Augustana women's soccer team posted its school-record sixth shutout of the season and scored a season-high six goals in beating Wayne State 6-0 Sunday at Yankton Trail Park.

In the game, scoring would come from a wide variety of ways for Augustana (7-2-1). It took just three minutes and 32 seconds for Augie to get on the board as freshman Raelyn Walczak took a pass from sophomore Stephanie Goos and put it past WSC goalkeeper Emily Walker for her second goal of the season. It was Goos' team-leading seventh assist of the season.

The second goal of the game would come two minutes later when freshman Katie Bowman put a pass in front of the net to sophomore Kelli Goodrich who would battle for the ball with Wildcats' midfielder Megan Kenealy who ended up deflecting the ball into her own net.

Freshman Ali Schmitt would score her first career goal right before halftime from a pass from sophmore Lisa Shirk , her third assist of the season.

In the second half both Goos and junior Erin Murphy would also get their first goals of the season as sophomore Katie Shandri would assist Goos on her goal and Murphy made her way through the Wildcat defense scoring on her own. The assist was Shandri's second assist and a team-leading 12th point of the season.

For the final goal of the game Shirk sent the ball in front of net to junior Kayla Peek, who passed it across the net to sophomore Jenna Doerneman for  her second goal of the season.

Senior goalkeeper Lisa Jarovski made her eighth appearance in net for Augie and she recorded her second shutout of the season and the seventh of her career after making three saves against the Wildcats.

The Vikings will move on to play Upper Iowa (6-4-1) Saturday, October, 11 in Fayette, Iowa, at 1 p.m.
