Augustana College sits in second place following the fall sports season in the NSIC / U.S. Bank All-Sports Award competition, the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference office announced today.
Augustana scored 54.5 points during the fall sports season and is just 2.5 points behind leader Minnesota State University, Mankato, which has 57 points.
Augustana is coming off its most successful fall sports season in school history. The Vikings won the NSIC women's cross country championship and had the remaining four fall sports teams finish in the top 4 of their respective sports. The men's cross country team finished second, while the women's soccer team was third. In addition, the volleyball team tied for third place and the football team tied for fourth place.
Points are awarded by giving the winner of each title in a conference-sponsored championship points totaling the number of teams in that sport plus one. The next place finisher receives points totaling the number of teams less the number of places from first place. Ties at any level shall result in the totaling of points and distributed equally.
