The Augustana women's basketball team cracked the top 20 in the first regular season
USA TODAY ESPN Division II Top 25 women's basketball poll, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced today.
Augustana, which was ranked 21st in the preseason poll, jumped three spots in the rankings after opening the season with a 3-0 record. Last week, the Vikings upended the University of Sioux Falls 68-53 and Doane 90-73.
Augustana is the only Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference school ranked in the top 25. However, Minnesota State University, Mankato and Minnesota State University Moorhead are each receiving votes.
The Vikings have a tough schedule this week as they participate in the NSIC Holiday HoopsFest in Sioux Falls. On Saturday, Augustana takes on Southwest Minnesota State, which is 5-1 on the season, in a 5 p.m. game. Then on Sunday, the Vikings face MSU Moorhead, which is 3-0, at 5 p.m. Both games will be played at the Sioux Falls Arena.
