The Augustana men's and women's cross country teams each received the 2007 NCAA Division II USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, the association announced today.
The Viking men were third out of 67 teams to receive the award. Augustana had a team grade point average of 3.56. Limestone was the top men's team with a 3.63 team GPA.
On the women's side, the Augustana women were 41st out of 99 schools to receive the award. The Vikings had a 3.40 team GPA. Seattle Pacific led the Division II women's teams with a 3.80 team GPA.
"These GPA's are a testament to the type of quality student athletes that we have on our team, and at Augustana College," head coach
Tracy Hellman said. "The coaching staff is very proud of these academic accomplishments, as they indicate the dedication that our student-athletes put into their education here at Augustana College."
For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet. The team must also have a minimum 3.00 team cumulative grade point average.
The Viking men finished eighth at the regional championships, while the Augie women tied for second. They went on to finish eighth at the Division II Championships.
