Three Vikings Claim Medalist Honors at Vance Butler Invitational

Lindsey Schultz won the shot put with a best toss of 13.18 meters to set an NCAA provisional qualifying mark at the Vance Butler Invitational Saturday in Sioux Falls, S.D. Schultz also finished second in the women's discuss throw with a best of 45.71 meters, and took third in the hammer throw with a best of 42.51 meters.

Molly Clark won the women's 3000 meters in a time of 10:41.77. Clark was one of four Vikings to finish in the top seven. Miranda Wagner finished third (10:47.43), Alyssa Anderson finished fifth (10:57.85), and Jessica Pape finished seventh (11:21.97). Clark also finished third in the women's 1500 in 4:52.94, while Wagner finished fifth in 4:54.13.

Jordan Johnson won the women's javelin throw with a best toss of 39.03 meters. Sam Jurrens took fifth in the women's 400 meters in 61.06.

Annaliese Pepin finished the women's 400 meter hurdles in 64.85 for second place, two tenths behind the winner. Noel Bentele finished in fifth place in the women's shot put, with a best of 11.10 meters.

On the men's side, Austin Vande Berg finished third in the men's 1500 meter run in 4:03.87, and also finished eighth in the men's 800 meter run in 1:59.

Matt Heesch finished second in the men's 5000 meter run in 16:06.07, with Peter Oien close behind for third in 16:06.56.

Bryan Prairie took sixth in the men's triple jump, with a best of 13.26 meters, while Chad Hedgepeth and Blake Ridgway finished seventh (17.11) and eighth (17.14) in the men's 110 meter hurdles, respectively.

The Vikings will next compete at the Jim Duncan Invitational Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa.
