Sioux Falls, S.D. -- The North Central Conference has announced that the 2008 NCC Softball Tournament has been pushed back a day due to poor weather predictions.
The tournament, being hosted by Minnesota Duluth, has been changed from Friday/Saturday to a Saturday/Sunday as more favorable weather conditions are predicted for those days. The first games will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Wheeler Athletic Complex in Duluth.
The 2008 NCC Softball Tournament champion receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Softball North Central Regional. The NCAA Regional Tournament is scheduled for Thursday-Sunday, May 8-11 at a campus site to be determined.
“We have made every effort to make sure that the participants in the championship have the best experience possible,” said NCC Commissioner
Roger Thomas. “This spring has been filled with difficult weather situations and this weekend is no exception. It was not feasible to move the tournament to a different site and we feel that moving the dates of the tournament will give us the best opportunity to get all the games in while giving the student-athletes another day in class at this important time of the year.”
