Former Augustana Basketball Standout Corey McIntosh Signs Pro Contract

Former Augustana College men's basketball player Corey McIntosh has signed a two-year contract to play professionally for a team in Bulgaria.

McIntosh, who played last season for the Vikings, will join Cherno More Varna, a team based in Varna , Bulgaria , and a member of the Balkan International Basketball League. The Balkan League features teams in Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Serbia and Turkey .

“I am very happy,” McIntosh said. “This has been a blessing, but I am trying not to take anything for granted. A two-year contract is so much better than a one-year contract. With a one-year contract, that puts so much more pressure on you to perform. But with a two-year contract it shows that they have some faith in you.”

McIntosh credits former junior college teammate Bryce Sheldon for helping him get the chance to play in Europe . Sheldon, who played with McIntosh at Fullerton College , played in Europe last season and gave his agent McIntosh's name. Within a few weeks, McIntosh signed his contract.

McIntosh led Augustana in scoring last season as he averaged 18.1 points per game. An All-North Central Conference selection, McIntosh led the Vikings to a 22-9 record, a second-place finish in the NCC regular season standings and the program's first appearance in the NCAA regional tournament since 1988-89.

“I got a lot better at Augustana,” McIntosh said. “I learned a lot from my coaches and teammates. They were unbelievable. They pushed me every day and that helped me improve. I believe that if there are positive people around you then positive things will happen.”
