Augustana's Lindsey Schultz and Molly Clark each finished in the top 12 in their respective events at the 2008 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday in Walnut, Calif.
Schultz finished 10th in the shot put with a best mark of 45 feet, 4.5 inches (13.83 meters). Katie Wilson of Wayne State won the event with a best mark of 51 feet, 11.75 inches. She was followed closely by Jessica Selby-Tallman of Missouri Southern, who had a best mark of 51 feet, 3 inches. Schultz will also compete in the discus finals on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. (Pacific Time).
A day after clinching the final spot for the finals in the preliminaries, Clark finished 12th overall in the 3000 meter final in a time of 10:17.58. Sarah Montez of California State-Chico claimed medalist honors, finishing in 9:39.00. Jane Larson of Seattle Pacific took second with a time of 9:41.20.
On Saturday, Rachel Stangler will compete in the finals of the women's 3000 meter steeplechase. Stangler qualified in the preliminaries with the third fastest overall time of 10:41.47. The steeplechase final will be Saturday at 5 p.m. (Pacific Time).
