Augustana College was ranked among the leaders in the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball and Volleyball National Attendance Rankings, released by the NCAA today.
Augustana finished the 2007-08 season ranked fourth in the nation in women's basketball attendance figures. The Vikings drew a total of 25,564 fans for their 12 home games for an average of 2,130 fans per game.
In the national volleyball rankings, Augustana ranked 15th. The Vikings had 3,636 fans attend their 8 home matches for an average of 455 per match.
The North Central Conference led the nation in attendance for both sports in 2007-08. In its final season of competition, the NCC drew an average of 1,382 fans per game with a total attendance of 145,134 during the women's basketball season. The NCC edged out the MIAA, which averaged 1,312 fans per game. Augustana's new conference, the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, was third with an average of 727 fans per game.
In volleyball, the NCC drew an average of 416 fans per match with a total attendance of 29,946 fans. Again, the MIAA was second at an average of 363 fans per match. The NSIC was fifth at an average of 322 fans per match.
