A small contingent of Augustana wrestlers had mixed results at the 27th Annual Kaufman-Brand Open Saturday in Omaha, Neb.
The Vikings had 12 competitors in the tournament, which is the largest single-day tournament in the country. None of the Augustana starters competed in the meet, giving an opportunity for some of the program's younger wrestlers a chance to gain valuable experience.
Five Vikings competed in the Elite Division.
Kyle Svendsen had the best day out of this group as he posted a 2-2 record at 157 pounds.
In the Amateur Division, the Vikings fielded seven wrestlers.
Austin Carmichael posted a 2-2 record at 149 pounds. Meanwhile,
Darcy Huffman went 2-2 at 184 pounds while competing unattached.
Augustana returns to the mat on Tuesday when the Vikings take on Augsburg, ranked No. 2 in NCAA Division III, in their first dual of the season. The dual is set to begin at 7 p.m.
