Augustana Tracksters Turn in Season-Best Times at ISU Classic

A handful of Augustana men's and women's indoor track team members turned in personal and season-best times at the Iowa State Classic Friday in Ames, Iowa.

Leading the way was Molly Clark, who finished eighth in the 5,000 meters. Clark crossed the finish line in 17:42.57, a personal best performance, which is an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark. She was nearly 8 seconds under the provisional qualifying standard of 17:50.50. In addition, Miranda Wagner narrowly missed setting a provisional qualifiying time as she finished in 11th place with a personal-best time of 17:55.56.

In the 200-meter dash, Annaliese Pepin turned in an indoor personal-best time of 26.36 to finish 98 out of 131 competitors.

On the men's side, the Viking distance medley team of Daniel Black, Paul Mallory, Brian Werner and Travis Beniak finished 11th with a season-best time of 10:11.48. The mark missed the provisional qualifying standard by 5 seconds.

The Vikings will have five athletes competing at the ISU Classic on Saturday, while the rest of the squad will compete at the Dordt Indoor Invitational in Sioux Center, Iowa.
