The Augustana men's and women's track and field teams continued to record solid marks during the indoor season as more personal best marks fell at the Iowa State Classic and Dordt Indoor Invitational on Saturday.

At the Iowa State Classic, four Vikings competed. In the men's mile, Travis Beniak and Daniel Black each turned in personal best times. Beniak finished sixth with a time of 4:15.16 while Black was 15th in 4:20.93.

In the men's 800 meters, Brian Werner placed 21st in a personal-best time of 1:56.35.

Annaliese Pepin was the only Viking women in action at Iowa State. Pepin won her heat of the 400 meters in a time of 59.32 seconds. That mark placed her 20th overall.

The rest of the Vikings were in Sioux Center, Iowa competing in the Dordt Indoor Invitational. Augustana fared well there as well, winning five events and claiming five other runner-up finishes.

Augustana had a lot of success in the throwing events as the Vikings won 3 of the 4 titles. Aaron Jung won the men's shot put with a toss of 15.28 meters to shatter his person. Meanwhile, Kevin Knapp was eighth with a mark of 13.08. Knapp, however, won the weight throw with a season-best heave of 16.31 meters, while Jung placed sixth with a mark of 12.77 meters.

For the Viking women, Noel Bentele captured the weight throw crown with a toss of 14.87 meters. She then finished second in the shot put with a mark of 12.26 meters. Teammate Rachel Christiansen was third in the shot put with a mark of 11.56 meters and seventh in the weight throw with a throw of 12.80 meters.

Bobbi Jo Buyck had a strong day on the track and in the field events. Buyck won the 55-meter dash in 7.47 seconds. She also tied teammate Kacia Erickson for second place in the pole vault. Both Vikings cleared 3.15 meters in the same number of attempts.

Augustana's women's relay teams had a good day. The 4X800 meter team of Jenny Rogers, Allison Henke, Kelly Kougl and LeAnn Severson was victorious in a time of 9:34.36, while the 4X400 meter team of Meagan Grandgenett, Severson, Kougl and Megan Erspamer finished second in 4:11.49.

On the track, Alyssa Anderson and Laura Johnson finished second and third in the 3,000 meter run. Anderson crossed the finish line in 10:52.95, while Johnson was close behind in 11:01.69. In the 800 meters, Erspamer was second in 2:23.16, while Caitlin Polgreen was fourth in 2:25.17. Polgreen added a fourth-place finish in the mile run, recording a time of 5:23.25.

Other top performances turned in by the Augustana men came in the 3,000 meters. Matt Braithwaite and Peter Oien came in fourth and fifth. Braithwaite turned in a time of 9:20.93 and Oien had a time of 9:24.66.

Two other Viking men finished sixth. Nathaniel Petrich was sixth in the mile with a time of 4:38.44 and Jacob Elmer was sixth in the 400 with a time of 53.57.
