Final Results
In its first action of the spring, the Augustana women's golf team finished second in the Second Annual Desert Invitational Friday afternoon at the Cathedral Canyon Golf Course in Cathedral City, Calif.
Augustana carded a 337 on the afternoon to finish as the tournament's runner-up. Host Californina Baptist claimed the team title with a score of 306.
Individually, the Vikings had three golfers finish in the top 10.
Laura Strautz led the way by shooting an 81 on the par 72 course. She finished in seventh place. Strautz was followed by teammates
Kelly Lauer and
Kate Tobin, who tied for eighth place at 83.
Rounding out the Viking scorers were
Kaari Espeland and
Kelli Lowry. Each player shot 90 to tie for 15th place.
Augustana had three players compete as individuals. Megan Entwistle was 13th with an 88, while
Emily Holck (93) and
Molly Leland (95) finished 20th and 21st, respectively.
Augustana returns to the links next weekend when the Vikings travel to Fayette, Iowa, to compete in the Upper Iowa Invitational on April 4-6.
