The Augustana track and field teams placed 10 participants in the top five at the 9th Annual Lee Krough Invitational, held at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. Over 20 schools participated in the meet.
Highlighting the day was
Molly Clark. Clark set an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark in the steeplechase, winning the event in 11:04.20.
Also taking home a first place finish was
Annaliese Pepin, who won the 400 meter hurdles in 1:04.97.
Meagan Grandgenett finished in second place with a time of 1:07.33.
The women's team provided a strong showing in the 1500 meter run with
Caitlin Polgreen taking third place with a time of 4:47.25.
Kelly Kougl took third in 4:51.16.
In the women's hammer throw,
Noel Bentele threw 146-10.0 to earn her a third-place finish. Bentele also placed sixth in the shot put with a mark of 39-06.50.
On the men's side,
Travis Beniak took second place in the 3000 meter steeplechase by running 9:34.58 and
Daniel Black finished in third with a time of 9:55.07.
Nathaniel Petrich gave Augustana a third individual in the top 5 with a fifth-place finish in a time of 10:04.56.
Paul Mallory took home third place in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.77 and sixth in the 110-meter hurdles 15.85. In the field events,
Blake Ridgeway placed fifth in the high jump by jumping 6-01.50.
The team will be back in action on April 16 for the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif.
