Augustana Tracksters Conclude Sioux City Relays With Two First Place Finishes

The Augustana track and field teams concluded its second day at the Sioux City Relays on Saturday in Sioux City, Iowa with a pair of first place finishes.

Kelly Kougl won the women's 1500 meter run with a time of 4:50.73, while Caitlin Polgreen finished right behind her for second place after finishing the race in 4:53.87.

Both Koughl and Polgreen, along with Claire Severson and Megan Erspamer took first place in the women's 4 x 800 meter run with a time of 9:33.78. 

All four runners finished in second place in the women's distance medley with a time of 12:14.42.

Noel Bentele finished in third place in the hammer throw after finishing with a 45.23 meter throw.

On the men's side Aaron Jung and Tyler Lynch had strong showings in the shot put, as Jung finished in third place with a throw of 15.39 meters, while Lynch finished in sixth after a toss of 13.87 meters. Lynch also finished in fourth place in the discus throw with a toss of 43.39 meters.

Matt Braithwaite had a strong finish in the 5000 meter run, finishing in third place with a time of 15.25.37.

Because of wet weather, Augustana did not compete in a majority of sprint events.

Both the men and women will next compete in the Drake Relays on Friday, April 24 in Des Moines, Iowa.
