Final Results
The Augustana women's golf team could not make up any ground and as a result, the Vikings finished in fifth place at the NSIC Championships which concluded Sunday at Brookings Golf Course in Brookings, S.D.
Augustana shot a 323 on Sunday to finish with a 72-hole total of 1313. This weekend's scores were combined with the first 2 rounds that were held in October in St. Paul, Minn.
Concordia-St. Paul held on to win the team championship with a team score of 1277. Upper Iowa finished second, 1 shot back at 1278, while Winona State was third at 1302 and Minnesota State was fourth at 134.
Individually, Augustana was led by
Kate Tobin and
Laura Strautz. Tobin fired a team-best 78 on Sunday to finish in a 12th-place tie with Strautz at 328. Strautz shot 81 on Sunday.
Kaari Espeland fired an 80 for the second day in a row to finish in a tie for 16th place at 330. Meanwhile,
Kelly Lauer finished 26 at 346 after shooting an 89 on Sunday.
Kelli Lowry, rounded out Augustana's scorers with an 84. She finished the weekend with a 161 after not competing in the fall portion of the tournament.
Augustana will now wait and see if it is selected to compete in the NCAA Division II Super Region Three Championships, scheduled for May 4-6 at Westward Ho Country Club in Sioux Falls. Augustana is the host institution. The tournament field will be announced either late Monday afternoon or Tuesday.
