Former Augustana basketball player Amy Puthoff and former Augustana softball player Ally Rutherford have received the NCAA Division II Degree-Completion Award Scholarship. They were two of 86 recipients chosen from across the Division II ranks.
The Division II Degree-Completion Award program provides financial assistance to deserving student-athletes with completion of a first baccalaureate degree.
Candidates are student-athletes who have exhausted their athletics eligibility and have received athletics financial aid. Recipients are selected on the basis of several factors, with emphasis on academic performance. Other factors considered are financial circumstances, athletics achievement, and involvement in campus and community activities.
Puthoff will be finishing her degree in elementary education by student teaching this fall. She will also serve as a graduate assistant coach for the Augustana women's basketball team, working towards a master's degree in education.
Rutherford will also be student teaching in the fall to finish her degree in physical education.
