Cameron McCaffrey and
Trevor Hass combined for 64 points to lead Augustana to a 101-74 victory over Gustavus Adolphus Monday night in exhibition competition in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Hass anchored the trio, scoring 23 points on 9 of 13 shooting from the field. Schilling and McCaffrey finished with 21 and 20 points, respectively.
Adam Peterka handed out a game-high seven assists for Augustana, while
Derrick De Zeeuw grabbed a team-high five rebounds.
The Vikings scorched the nets, shooting 62.3 percent from the field and 43.8 percent from behind the arc.
Augustana carried a 20-point lead into halftime--thanks to a 5 of 8 shooting performance from the 3-point line. The Vikings' largest lead of the half came just before the break when Hass drilled a 3-pointer to give his team a 51-29 advantage.
A 15-2 spurt by the Vikings late in the second half gave them as large as a 27-point lead, a deficit they settled on to close the contest.
Augustana forced 22 GAC turnovers. Seth Anderson and Ben Biewen each had 12 points to pace the Gusties.
The Vikings will travel to the University of Arizona on Sunday to face the Wildcats in an exhibition contest before opening the regular season at home against Jamestown (N.D.) on Nov. 13.
