Nebraska-Omaha Drops Augustana Men's Tennis 9-0

The Augustana men's tennis team opened the 2010 season by falling to Nebraska-Omaha 9-0 Saturday in Omaha, Neb.

Despite being shut out, there were several close matches. In the No. 4 singles match, UNO's Andrew Lescelius edged Augustana's Neal Gregerson 4-6, 6-3, 11-9. The Vikings' Dane Rasmussen fell 6-4, 6-4 to UNO's Peter Greteman at No. 5 singles.

In doubles action, the Mavericks' No. 1 team of Drew Mercier and Chase Peterson held off Augie's tandem of Jared Drenkow and Evan Gardner by a score of 8-5. Then at No. 2 doubles, UNO's Jon McQuistan and Eric McKnight held off Gregerson and Dillon Karras 8-4.

Augustana is off until next Saturday, February 27, when the Vikings host South Dakota State at Sioux Empire Fitness.
