The Augustana women's tennis team opened the season with a dominating performance against Bemidji State, defeating the Beavers 9-0 Friday night.
Augustana (1-0) dropped only 12 games in six singles matches and 4 games in three doubles matches in picking up the victory.
No. 4 singles player
Jill Hagestuen led the way for the Vikings as she blanked Kelli Christiansen 6-0, 6-0. Two other Vikings dropped only 1 singles game. At No. 1 singles,
Brittany Gaster routed Farrah Steinke 6-1, 6-0, while
Adrienne Conley downed Kara Johnson 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.
Gaster and Conley then teamed up at No. 1 doubles where they shut out Lindsey Luberda and Christiansen by a score of 8-0.
The Vikings will be in action again Saturday as they take on Minnesota, Crookston at noon.
