The Augustana men's tennis team dropped its second dual of the season, falling 9-0 to South Dakota State Saturday night at Sioux Empire Fitness in Sioux Falls.
The Vikings slipped to 0-2 on the season, while SDSU improved to 3-1.
Although the Jacks won every match, several were very competitive, including a thrilling No. 1 singles match between Augustana's
Jared Drenkow and SDSU's Corey Paluch. Drenkow won a first set tiebreaker 7-2 before Paluch won the second set in a tiebreaker by a 7-4 score. Paluch then won the super tiebreaker 10-2.
Drenkow and Paluch also had a hand in a close No. 1 doubles match. Paluch teamed with Alex Lauseng to edge Drenkow and
Evan Gardner 8-5.
Augustana returns to the court on Sunday when the Vikings take on Minnesota State University, Mankato, in a 10:30 a.m. dual.
