Augustana's women's tennis team won the final four matches to rally from a 4-1 deficit to claim a 5-4 victory over St. Michael's Tuesday night in Orlando, Fla.
The Vikings remained undefeated on the season, improving to 9-0. St. Michael's slipped to 7-3.
St. Michael's won two out of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead in the dual. St. Michael's then won the first two singles matches as Alexaner Dalton beat
Adrienne Conley 6-1, 6-2, and Jean-Marie McGarth downed
Amber Baustian 6-3, 6-2.
But the Vikings rallied to win the remaining four singles matches, three of which were decided in super tiebreakers. First,
Jill Hagestuen edged past Emily McGee 7-5, 6-4 in the No. 4 singles match. The next match to finish was the No. 2 singles match where
Michelle Wadas squeaked by Deahna Giguere 6-2, 3-6, 10-7.
Brittany Gaster followed that up with a No. 1 singles victory over Lindsay Horne, 6-4, 6-7 (4), 10-7. Finally,
Hannah Gebauer, playing at No. 3 singles, completed the comeback with a 7-6, (1), 6-7 (4), 10-6 win over Marran Ranks.
Augustana will try to remain unbeaten on Wednesday, when the Vikings take on St. Ambrose in a 12:30 p.m. EDT matchup.
