Augustana's
Kate Tobin claimed medalist honors to help the Viking women's golf team to a third-place finish at the Wayne State Spring Invitational that concluded Monday at the Wayne Country Club in Wayne, Neb.
Tobin entered Monday's second round tied for the individual lead with Concordia-St. Paul's Laura Petterson at 76. Tobin fired a 77 on Monday to finish with a 36-hole total of 153. Meanwhile, Petterson carded an 82 and finished in fourth place at 158. Meanwhile, CU's Kaytie Spangler finished in second place three shots behind Tobin at 156.
The Vikings had a second individual in the top 10.
Kelsey Bortnem shot 82 on Monday to tie for 10th place at 165.
Kelly Lauer was next, finishing 13th at 168, while
Emily Kvidera and
Jennifer Benoy tied for 18th place at 172.
Emily Holck competed as an individual and finished 32nd at 183.
In the team standings, Augustana entered Monday tied for second place with Southwest Minnesota State. But the Vikings shot 332 on Monday, while SMSU carded a 321. Augustana finished with a team score of 657, while SMSU was second at 646. Concordia won the team title at 637.
Augustana will be in action again on Friday and Saturday, April 2-3, at the Upper Iowa Invitational in Fayette, Iowa.
