With a 6-3 win over St. Cloud State on Friday, the Augustana women's tennis team is now in sole possession of first place in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference standings.
The Vikings remain perfect on the season with a 15-0 overall record and a 8-0 mark in the conference.
The Huskies fall to 16-5 on the season and 7-1 in the NSIC.
The Vikings took an early 3-0 lead in the match, winning all three doubles matches. The No. 1 team of Brittany Gaster and Adrienne Conley defeated Jacquelyn Doll and Kelly Freese 9-8 with the Vikings winning the tiebreaker 7-4.
Michelle Wadas and Hannah Gebauer beat Catarina Franca and Kayla Lenz 8-6 in the No. 2 spot while Emily Johnson and Gabrielle Kachena dominated the No. 3 team of Tanya Halloran and Samantha Boushek.
At No. 1 singles, Gaster rallied from a 0-6 deficit in the first set to beat Doll 6-4 and 12-10 in the next two. Wadas also earned a win at No. 3 singles, coming from behind 2-6, 6-4, 10-6.
Augie will be at Huether Tennis Centre on Saturday for a matchup with the University of Sioux Falls. Match will start at approximately 1 p.m.
