FINAL WOMEN'S RESULTS
MINNEAPOLIS - Diego Oquendo and Noel Bentele shattered Augustana records on Saturday to highlight the Vikings' performance at the Jack Johnson Classic hosted by the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
Oquendo broke a school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.08 for a fourth-place finish. The time provisionally qualifies him for the NCAA Championships. Oquendo also held the previous record of 8.18 seconds. He was also seventh in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.93 seconds.
Bentele threw a school record 52 feet, 10.25 inches in the weight throw to place sixth and provisionally qualify. In the shot put, Bentele threw 40 feet, 8.75 inches to take fourth.
Augustana also had top-finishes in Aduo Omot, Paul Yak and Anne Parsley. Omot provisionally qualified in the 800-meter run (1:51.93) and finished third, while Yak clocked in at 8:47.44 in the 3,000-meter run to also take third. Parsley ran the 400-meter dash in 59.13 to place eighth.
Other noteable performances for the Vikings were Travis Beniak (4:19.09) and Jordan Slusser (4:29.51), who were 11th and 19th, respectively, in the 1,600-meter run.
Andrea Whitney and Katie Guse placed 10th and 11th, respectively, in the high jump. Whitney cleared 5 feet, 3.25 inches, while Guse jumped 5 feet, 1.75 inches.
Blake Ridgeway and Jacob Pohlmann tied for 13th in the high jump (6 feet, 2.75 inches).
Both of Augustana's women's (4:01.56) and men's (3:26.92) 4x400-meter relay teams performed well, taking ninth and 10th place, respectively.
The Vikings resume competition on Saturday at the Minnesota State Open.
