MANKATO, Minn. - Noel Bentele, Blake Ridgeway, Jacob Pohlmann and Paul Mallory all broke school records for Augustana on Saturday at the Minnesota State Open in Mankato, Minn.
Bentele's tossed 54 feet in the weight throw to break her school record of 52 feet, 10.25 inches she set last weekend at the Jack Johnson Classic.
Ridgeway set a school record with 4,287 points in the men's heptathlon, good for seventh place. The previous school record was 4,192 points.
Also beating the previous school record in the heptathlon were Pohlmann (4,266 points) and Mallory (4,238 points). Pohlmann finished eighth, and Mallory was 10th.
Anne Parsley finished seventh in the women's pentathalon with 3,042 points. Meagan Grandgenett earned 3,056 points for sixth place.
Aduo Omot won the men's 800-meter run in 2:28.84, while teammate Travis Beniak was third (2:32.70). Omot's time is currently among the top in the conference.
Diego Oquendo won the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 6.92 seconds; he was also ninth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.84 seconds.
Colleen Everson grabbed a fourth-place finish in the women's 400-meter dash, checking in at 59.79 seconds. Everson also leaped 35 feet, 10.75 inches in the triple jump to capture third-place honors. Her jump places her sixth in the conference.
Taylor Olson was 10th in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 50.84 seconds.
Miriam Hovda was eighth in the women's mile, clocking in at 5:13.68.
Karmen Nyberg's time of 26.69 seconds in the 200-meter dash got the freshman 10th place.
In the women's 600-meter run, LeAnn Severson (1:38.46) and Alyssa Schmidt (1:45.24) were fourth and 10th, respectively. Aaron Bauer was sixth in the men's event (1:25.55).
Clint Freiheit was eighth in the men's 800-meter run with a time of 2:04.24.
Kelly Kougl was a fourth-place finisher in the women's 1,000-meter run, checking in at 3:04.40.
A total of 17 schools participated at the MSU Open.
The Vikings will resume competition on Saturday at the Ted Nelson Classic in Mankato, Minn.
