SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The No. 6-ranked Augustana wrestling team continues action in open competition Saturday at the Dakota Wesleyan Open in Mitchell, S.D.
The Vikings had nine top-six finishers at last week's Daktronics Open, including 165-pound champion
Marcus Edgington.
The Vikings were picked third in the 2011-12 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll and sixth in the country by the Division II Wrestling Coaches Association.
Four Viking wrestlers—
Nate Herda (141),
Jason Jeremiason (133),
Marcus Edgington (157) and
Carl Serck (174)—are nationally ranked.
Augustana competes in one more open tournament before the dual season begins. The Vikings travel to the MSU Moorhead Open Dec. 3 before hosting a triangular with Northwestern (Iowa) and Dakota Wesleyan on Dec. 9.
