FINAL RESULTS
MANKATO, Minn. - Augustana crowned four champions--including a provisional qualifier in high jumper Katie Guse--Saturday afternoon at the Minnesota State Preseason Open in Mankato, Minn.
Guse cleared 5 feet, 7.75 inches to win the women's event.
LeAnn Severson won the women's 800-meter dash in 2 minutes, 22.68 seconds, Justin Cook won the men's 800-meter run in 1:57.61 and Aduo Omot was the men's 1,000-meter run champion after charting a time of 2:27.46.
Miriam Hovda ran the 800-meter dash in 2 minutes, 24.23 seconds, and Henrik Hansson finished the 3,000-meter run in 8 minutes, 55.54 seconds to each place second in their respective events.
Also sprinting the 800-meter were Megan Erspamer (2:31.04) and Alyssa Schmidt (2:36.99), who placed fifth and eighth, respectively.
In the 400-meter dash, Colleen Everson placed third, clocking in at 59.78 and Skyler Kuil (51.05) took fourth in the men's race.
Karmen Nyberg ran a time of 26.10 in the 200-meter for third place and Laura Popanz (26.85) was seventh.
Paul Mallory ran 8.50 in the 60-meter hurdles to earn a third-place finish and Gathin Veldhuizen took fifth at 8.61 seconds.
Malik Glass was fourth (7.24) in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.24.
In the long jump, Phil Rien leaped 20 feet, 10.75 inches for fifth place and Colleen Everson placed sixth for the women (17 feet, 9.5 inches).
Cory Sugden tied for seventh in the high jump (6 feet, 2 inches).
Augustana women's 4X400-meter relay team clocked in at 4 minutes, 5.59 seconds to earn third place.
The Viking men had their 4X400-meter relay teams place third (3:30.11), fifth (3:32.92) and seventh (3:38.35).
Augustana will resume competition on Jan. 14 at the South Dakota Invitational.
