ST. PETER, Minn. - Minnesota State broke away from a 4-4 tie and won the decisive match at No. 2 singles to beat Augustana 5-4 Sunday morning in St. Peter, Minn.
MSU moves to 2-2, while Augustana is now 2-1.
With the match tied at four, MSU's Marco Vazquez topped Augustana's
Evan Gardner 6-3, 3-6, 10-1.
In singles play, the Vikings got victories from
Neal Gregerson (No. 3) and
Dane Rasmussen (No. 4).
The Vikings logged two wins in doubles action.
Jared Drenkow and
Evan Gardner topped MSU's Mitch Barr and Cole Jensen 8-6 at No. 1, and Rasmussen and
Max Eckrich beat Jon Alland and Mike Lindaman at No. 3.
The Vikings resume competition Feb. 26, hosting South Dakota State.
