2011 TINO MARTINEZ AWARD WATCH LIST

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Augustana outfielder Nate Baumann has been named to the watch list for the 2011 Tino Martinez Award for the most outstanding player in Division II baseball.

The annual honor is named after Tino Martinez, a former player at the University of Tampa who went onto be a first-round draft pick and MLB all-star.

A native of Marshall, Minn., Baumann earned NSIC Player of the Year honors in 2010 and was also named All-NSIC first team, Daktronics and Rawlings/ABCA All-Central Region first team and Daktronics and Rawlings/ABCA All-America second team. The outfielder hit .441 with 60 RBIs and 14 homers.

Nominations for the award were made by baseball sports information contacts and media members. Omission from the initial list does not exclude additional players from future consideration.

The list will be updated with a mid-season release in April. Semifinalists are scheduled to be announced on May 7, and the finalists will be named on May 19.

After the finalists are named, fans are invited to vote online at www.tinoaward.com to help determine the winner. The winner will be announced after the conclusion of the Division II baseball championship held in Cary, N.C., from May 28 to June 4.

Augustana opens the 2011 season this Saturday and Sunday with a pair of doubleheaders at the Colorado School of Mines.
