RESULTS
MANKATO, Minn. - Augustana won 14 events at the Ted Nelson Classic hosted by Minnesota State Saturday in Mankato, Minn.
Kristin Brondbo took the title in the women's mile, covering the 1,600 meters in 5:09.08. Jordan Slusser won the men's event in 4:28.83.
Aduo Omot won the men's 400-meter dash in a time of 49.84 seconds.
Meagan Grandgenett was the champion in the women's 60-meter hurdles, clocking in at 9.37 seconds.
Diego Oquendo logged first-place finishes in two men's events, winning the 60-meter hurdles (8.26 seconds) and 60-meter dash (6.95 seconds).
Molly Kokesh's time of 2:55.83 in the women's 1,000-meter run earned her first-place accolades, while Jordan Slusser won the men's race in 2:42.60.
Runa Falch won the women's 3,000-meter run (9:59.51), and Matt Braithwaite did the same in the men's event (8:39.15).
Augustana's women's 4x400-meter relay team was first with a time of 4:00.74.
The women also added three first-place finishes in the field events. Noel Bentele won the weight throw (52 feet, 8.25 inches), Colleen Everson won the triple jump (35 feet, 7.25 inches) and Andrea Whitney (5 feet, 5.75 inches) won the high jump.
The Vikings had a host of other athletes earn top-five finishes.
Mary Hitchcock (1:01.92) and Katie Tonner (1:02.03) were second and third, respectively, in the women's 400-meter dash.
Aaron Bauer's time of 1:06.00 in the men's 500-meter run was good enough for second place.
In the women's 60-meter hurdles, Anne Parsley was third (9.89 seconds).
LeAnn Severson (2:19.23) and Miriam Hovda (2:22.34) were second and fifth in the women's 800-meter run.
In the men's 800-meter run, Travis Beniak was second (1:55.58).
Drew Trahms joined Kokesh in the top three of the women's 1,000-meter run, grabbing a third-place finish with a time of 3:19.83.
Karmen Nygerg (26.36 seconds) was second in the women's 200-meter dash, while Lauren Westerdahl (27.42 seconds) was fifth.
Oquendo tacked on a third-place finish in the men's 200-meter dash, checking in at 22.75 seconds.
The Vikings swept the top four spots in the women's 3,000-meter run. Annie Pfeifle (10:19.62), Kyle Blakeslee (10:23.56) and Leah Hansen (10:24.76) fell in behind Falch.
Paul Yak earned runner-up honors behind teammate Braithwaite in the men's 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:43.60.
Augustana's second women's 4x400-meter relay team was third (4:08.01). The men's team took second (3:22.73).
Tyler Lynch took fifth in the men's weight throw (44 feet, 0.75 inches) and fourth in the shot put (47 feet, 2.25 inches).
The Vikings took the No. 2 and No. 4 spots in the women's long jump. They went to Colleen Everson (18 feet, 0.5 inches) and Lauren Westerdahl (16 feet, 3 inches).
Hollie Bloom was fifth in the women's pole vault, clearing 10 feet, 6.25 inches.
Thomas Filer was a fourth-place honoree in the men's triple jump; he leaped 38 feet, 1.5 inches. In the women's event, Whitney was third (34 feet, 6.25 inches) and Noska was fourth (32 feet, 5.5 inches).
Jacob Pohlmann earned a fifth-place finish in the men's high jump, clearing 5 feet, 10.75 inches.
The Vikings will send athletes to the Iowa State Classic and Dordt Invite next weekend.
