STANFORD RESULTS | SAN FRANCISCO STATE RESULTS
PALO ALTO, Calif. - Augustana provisionally qualified five athletes, automatically qualified another and set two school records (one of which was broken two hours later) at a trio of competitions in California on Friday.
Diego Oquendo (110-meter hurdles), Travis Beniak (3,000-meter steeple chase) and Kyle Blakeslee (3,000-meter steeple chase) hit provisional marks at the Stanford Invitational. Falch (5,000-meter) hit an automatic qualifying mark and also established a school record. Kristin Brondbo (5,000-meter run) set a school record, which was later broken by Falch, and provisionally qualified at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival, and Noel Bentele (hammer throw) provisionally qualified at the Chabot College Relays.
Oquendo logged the sixth best mark in the preliminaries of the 110-meter hurdles and provisionally qualified with a time of 14.60 seconds.
In the men's 3,000-meter steeple chase, Beniak provisionally qualified with a time of 9:01.24. He was seventh in his heat.
Falch scorched the track in her 5,000-meter race. She set a school record with a time of 16:28.57 and won her heat.
Blakeslee was third in her heat of the women's 3,000-meter steeple chase after registering a time of 10:38.36. The performance was a personal best and hit the provisional mark.
Brondbo set a school record in the 5,000-meter run in 16:47.99, provisionally qualifying and winning her race at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival. Just two hours later, that record would fall with Falch's performance.
Bentele won the hammer throw at the Chabot College Relays and provisionally qualified with her toss of 163 feet, 7 inches.
Other action at the Stanford Invite included the following: In the men's 5,000-meter run, Matt Braithwaite was 17th (14:51.84), and Tom Karbo was 20th (14:51.84). Oquendo also clocked in at 10.95 seconds in the prelims of the 100-meter dash. Paul Mallory posted a time of 15.48 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles. Lastly, Aduo Omot finished 26th in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 50.00 seconds.
Augustana will not complete in tomorrow's finals at the Stanford Invite.
