SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Augustana got a four-RBI doubleheader from Nate Baumann to pick up a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference wins over Bemidji State Friday afternoon in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Vikings were victorious 7-3 and 4-1.

Augustana moves to 12-8 (4-0 NSIC), while BSU falls to 9-11 (3-3 NSIC).

Baumann went 2 for 4 with three RBIs and a home run in Game 1 and finished 2 for 4 with one RBI in Game 2. The senior had not played the previous three games due to an injury.

The Vikings also received a 2-for-3 outing from Drew Heithoff in their Game 1 win. The senior also drove in one run.

Casey Jacobson (2-0) worked 3.0 innings to pick up the win on the mound. The junior wasn't flashy; he didn't strikeout a single batter and allowed three hits, but he was able to keep his innings scoreless. Derek Hansen started and threw 3.0 innings and struckout three, and Patrick Carroll tossed the final inning and fanned two batters.

The Vikings scored three runs in both the first and second innings.

Heithoff homered to lead off the bottom of the first, and Baumann slammed a two-run home run two batters later to give the Vikings a 3-0 lead.

Nate Alfson doubled and Baumann singled to score runs in the second, while Brian Voigt pushed in the other with a groudout to second base. The Vikings led 6-1 after two innings.

The Vikings extended their lead to 7-2 in the fourth after Baumann led off the inning by reaching on an error and was later hit in by a double from Charlie Dubanoski.

BSU registered one run in the seventh.

The Beavers were led by Nick Jelacie's two hits. Aaron Young (1-2) suffered the loss.

Bennett Johnson (2-0) tossed 6.0 strong innings in Game 2 to lead the Vikings to a 4-1 win. Johnson struckout four and allowed just one run on four hits. Tyson Gau also worked 2.0 innings, and Bret Severtson wrapped up the contest's final inning to notch his third save of the season.

Deryk Marks collected two hits and an RBI, while Gates Cook went 2 for 4.

Nate Hewes homered in the first inning, and Baumann, who reached on a single, later found his way home via an Alfson single to put the Vikings up 2-0.

Two more Augustana runs in the second came off a single from Marks and double by Baumann.

Forced to work from a 4-0 deficit, BSU could muster just one run in the remainder of the contest as the Beavers took advantage of a Viking error to score their lone run of the game.

Ryan Gabur (0-3), who threw 6.1 innings, took the loss. No Beaver had more than one hit.

The two teams wrap up this series with a doubleheader tomorrow at noon.
