Oquendo, Guse win at South Dakota State Twilight

– Diego Oquendo won the mens' 100-meter dash and the 110-meter hurdles, while Katie Guse captured a title in the women's high jump to highlight Augustana's performance at the South Dakota State Twilight Monday afternoon in Brookings, S.D.

Oquendo's title in the 100-meter dash came with a 10.71-second performance, while he won the 110-meter hurdles in 14.54 seconds.

Guse was the champion in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 6 inches.

In other women's action, Anne Parsley placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.41.

Andrea Whitney tied for second in the women's high jump by clearing 5 feet, 4 inches.

Colleen Everson took fifth in the women's long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 6 inches, and Mary-Kathryn Tonner was sixth at 17 feet, 5.25 inches.

Noel Bentele's throw of 161 feet, 7 inches earned the senior sixth place in the women's hammer throw, while her toss of 37 feet, 9.25 inches was good for eighth place in the shot put.

The Vikings' women's 4x100-meter relay team was third (49.98 seconds).

Besides Oquendo, the Vikings placed seven other in the top eight in individual events.

Taylor Olson was fourth in the 100-meter dash at 11.01 seconds, and Paul Mallory was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.31 seconds.

Matt Winder was a second-place finisher in the men's 400-meter hurdles after clocking in at 56.66 seconds.

Cory Sugden cleared 6 feet, 2 inches to collect runner-up honors in the men's high jump.

Tyler Rien placed fifth in the men's long jump, covering 21 feet, 3.25 inches. Phil Rein was sixth (20 feet, 9.25 inches).

Shane Dombrovski captured eighth place in the men's triple jump at 42 feet, 1.5 inches.

Augustana will compete at the Drake Relays on Saturday.
