NSIC RELEASE

BURNSVILLE, Minn.
- The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced Tuesday that Augustana's Runa Falch and Tom Karbo have been named its Athletes of the Week for their performances this past weekend at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays.

Falch, a sophomore from Steinkjer, Norway, captured a pair of titles for Augustana. On Friday, Falch won the 3,000-meter run after turning in a time of 9:37.84--setting both a meet and stadium record. She followed that by setting a meet, stadium and school record in the 1,500-meter run on Saturday with a blazing time of 4:27.09, which automatically qualified her for the NCAA Championship.

Karbo, a native of Stord, Norway, won the 3,000-meter steeplechase and broke a meet and stadium record in the process. The junior turned in a time of 8:55.91, breaking the previous meet record, set in 1988, by nearly five seconds. Karbo also hit the automatic qualifying mark in the race.

Augustana travels to Aberdeen, S.D., Friday and Saturday for the NSIC Championships.
