ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - Concordia (N.Y) defeated Augustana 5-1 in the Round of 16 at the NCAA Championship in Altamonte Springs, Fla., on Wednesday afternoon to end the Vikings' season.
This is the farthest the Augustana has advanced in program history.
Concordia won its matches at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles for a 2-0 advantage before
Michelle Wadas and
Hannah Gebauer fought for an 8-6 victory at No. 2 to give the Vikings their lone point.
Concordia captured the match with singles victories at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3.
Ola Roberts defeated
Brittany Gaster, 6-2, 6-0, to begin singles play.
The Clippers received their final two points from Yuliya Plevako at No. 2 and Clara Catanzano at No. 4. Plevako defeated
Katie Jesperson 6-1, 6-1, while Catanzano had a 7-6, 6-1 victory over Gebauer.
