DULUTH, Minn.
- Bret Severtson broke his own Augustana school record by notching his eighth save of the season in a 1-0 win in the final game of a series with Minnesota Duluth Monday in Duluth, Minn. The Vikings also beat the Bulldogs 8-4 in a game continued from Sunday before falling 7-4 in the second contest of the day.

Augustana moves to 26-20 (18-12 NSIC), while UMD falls to 15-22 (11-14 NSIC).

Severtson broke his previous record of seven saves in a season set in 2009 and 2010. He worked 1.0 inning in the final game of the series. He forced to fly outs before giving up a single and coaxing a ground out to close the game.

Casey Jacobson (3-1) worked 6.0 inning and allowed just two hits in the shutout.

Augustana's only run of the game came in the first inning when Derek Hansen singled to score Drew Heithoff.

The Bulldogs were victorious in the game prior, posting a 7-4 win after jumping out to a 7-0 lead.

Adam Zwas (2-2) notched the win on the hill for UMD after throwing 4.0 shutout innings. Josh Taran was credited with a save.

Brian Voigt (2-2) tossed 4.1 innings and allowed six earned runs in the loss. Nick Seliski and Grant Larson also saw time on the mound.

Hansen finished the game 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

Trailing 7-0, the Vikings scored two runs each in bottom the sixth and seventh innings. In the sixth, Hansen sent a two-run homer to right center, while Augustana used a wild pitch and groundout in the seventh to push in a pair of runs.

The Bulldogs, though, managed to effectively silence that Viking comeback effort.

In the opening game of the day, which was a continued contest from Sunday in which one pitch was thrown, Deryk Marks logged three RBIs via a 3-for-4 performance at the dish to guide the Vikings to an 8-4 victory.

Hansen also had two RBIs and moved to 5-2 on the mound after tossing 6.0 innings and striking out four.

After opening up a scoreless game in the fourth with one run, the Vikings moved their lead to 5-0 in the top of the fifth after Marks doubled, Hansen registered a two-RBI single and Voigt notched a sacrifice fly.

UMD scored one in the bottom half of the frame, but Augustana countered with three additional runs in the sixth via singles from Marks and Nate Baumann.

The Bulldogs nudged back with three runs between the sixth and seventh innings, but nothing came of the small surge.

The Vikings will travel to U-Mary for a conference doubleheader on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
