SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Runa Falch set a meet, stadium and school record in the women's 1,500-meter run during the final day of the Howard Wood Dakota Relays Saturday in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Falch's blazing time of 4:27.09 automatically qualified her for the NCAA Championship and broke the previous meet record of 4:29.47 set in 1984.
In the men's version of the 1,500, Travis Beniak captured runner-up honors with a time of 3:49.93, hitting the provisional mark.
Diego Oquendo compiled an outstanding Saturday. He won the men's 100-meter dash (10.75 seconds) and was third in the 110-meter hurdles (14.90 seconds).
Taylor Olson joined Oquendo among the top finishers in the 100, checking in with a third-place finish after coming in at 10.96 seconds.
Augustana owned four top-seven place winners in the 400-meter hurdles. For the women, Anne Parsley was fourth (1:05.10), Mary-Kathryn Tonner was fifth (1:05.28) and Mary Hitchcock placed seventh (1:06.85). Matt Winder was fourth in the men's race (56.43 seconds).
Andrea Whitney and Katie Guse tied for fourth in the women's high jump after clearing 5 inches, 3.75 inches. Jacob Pohlmann was eighth in the men's event with a leap of 6 feet, 2.75 inches.
Two Vikings were in the top five in the women's long jump as Mary-Kathryn Tonner earned a fourth-place finish (17 feet, 5 inches) and Colleen Everson was fifth (16 feet, 9.75 inches).
Augustana's 4x400-meter relay teams were both high finishers. The women's unit of LeAnn Severson, Everson, Guse and Parsley collected third-place honors with a time of 3:58.98. The men's squad of Aduo Omot, Paul Mallory, Matt Winder and Olson was fourth in 3:18.78.
The Vikings won a total of six events at the two-day Howard Wood Dakota Relays.
Augustana competes at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship next weekend.
