AMES, Iowa - Tom Karbo and Runa Falch set new school records and Augustana had four runners and a relay team earn provisional qualifying marks for the national meet Friday and Saturday at the Iowa State Classic.
Karbo ran the 3,000 meter in 8:17.17, bettering his previous school record by more than five seconds to place sixth.
Falch clocked in at 16:40.52 in the 5,000 meter to beat her old record of 16:41.77 set last season. She finished sixth with the NCAA qualifying time.
Paul Yak provisionally qualified for nationals in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:45.63 to place eighth.
Kristin Brondbo was less than a second shy of setting a school record in the one mile. She ran a provisional time of 4:54.74 to take 17th.
Travis Beniak also hit a provisional time in the one mile. He finished the race in 4:11.35 to earn eighth place.
Augustana's distance medley relay made of up Kyle Blakeslee, Colleen Everson, Molly Kokesh and Runa Falch rounded out the Vikings who provisionally qualified for nationals. The foursome placed fourth with a time of 11:48.08.
Ryan Evans, Taylor Olson and LeAnn Severson all ran season bests at the meet. Evans ran the 5,000-meter run in 14:56.12 (14th place), Severson finished the 800-meter run in 2:17.73 (29th place) and Taylor Olson sprinted 22.35 in the 200-meter dash (21st).
Augustana begins the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Multi-Event Championships tomorrow in Bemidji, Minn.
