Augustana claims three titles, sets three school records at Nebraska Tune-Up

LINCOLN, Neb.
– Augustana's track and field team won three titles, set three school records and had two runners and two relay teams provisionally qualify for the NCAA Indoor National Championships Friday at the Nebraska Tune-Up. 

Kristin Brondbo claimed the women's one-mile title with a provisional time of 4:53.42 to beat her old school record of 4:54.25 set last season.

Travis Beniak, Khor Kong, Henrik Hansson and Tom Karbo ran the men's distance medley relay in a school record 9:54.83 to take first. The national qualifying time is seventh in the nation and beat the previous school record of 9:55.65. 

The combination of Kayla Mescher, Colleen Everson, Karmen Nyberg and Anne Parsley circled the oval in 3:52.33 to provisionally qualify for the national meet in the 4X400-meter relay and set a school record with the second-place finish. It's also the fastest time in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The previous record of 3:53.48 was recorded in 2001.   

Kelly Kougl won the women's 1,000-meter run by more than three seconds with a time of 3:07.25.

Kyle Blakeslee took home a provisionally qualifying time in the women's one mile, clocking in at 4:56.84 for sixth place.  

In the men's 1,000-meter run, Jordan Slusser ran a personal-best 2:29.93 to place fifth.

Augustana will finish its regular-season indoor competition tomorrow at the Wayne State Mini Meet.
