BURNSVILLE, Minn. - Augustana guards
Cody Schilling and
Drae Murray have been selected to the 2011-12 All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference team, the conference office announced Thursday. Schilling was a first-team pick, while Murray found a spot on the second team.
Schilling, a senior from Ellsworth, Minn., is making his third appearance on the first team after earning freshman of the year honors in 2008-09. Murray, a senior from Huntsville, Texas, is a newcomer to the team and the league after playing three seasons at Division I Sam Houston State.
Schilling became Augustana's all-time leading scorer Wednesday with a 28-point effort against MSU Moorhead in the opening round of the NSIC/Sanford Health Men's Basketball Tournament. He passed Carl Gonder's career mark of 1,830 points and now has 1,853 points as a Viking. He is averaging a team-best 17.1 points per game this season and finished the regular season sixth in the conference in scoring at 16.3 points per contest.
Murray led the NSIC in steals with 1.95 per game this season. He is averaging 13.7 points per game and has handed out a Viking-best 97 assists in 2011-12.
Augustana fell to MSUM in the opening round of the NSIC Tournament on Wednesday night. The Vikings will now wait to see if they are selected for the NCAA tournament on Sunday.
Augustana was ranked No. 9 in Wednesday's Central Region rankings. The top-eight teams from each region advance to the NCAA tournament.
