SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Augustana scored 18 runs on the afternoon and split a doubleheader at Drury Saturday, winning 13-4 before falling 9-5.
Augustana moves to 1-3, while Drury is now 7-4.
The Vikings exploded for six runs in the fourth inning in their throttling of DU in the opening game.
Nate Hewes led a potent Augustana offense, going 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs.
Tony Viger and
David Borchardt also blasted home runs.
The Vikings finished the game with 15 hits.
Derek Hansen (1-1) threw 6.0 innings and earned his first win of the season. The junior allowed three runs on four hits and fanned four batters.
Sam Gotham cleaned up the final inning.
Augustana broke away from a 2-2 tie with its fourth-inning effort. The six-run outburst included a homer from Viger and hits from
Jose Martinez, Hewes and Hansen.
After tacking on another run in the fifth, the Vikings added four more in the seventh frame on four hits, including Borchardt's bomb.
DU's Will Landsheft, who allowed six runs in 3.1 innings of work, was tagged with the loss.
The Panthers got their offense rolling in the night cap, spreading their nine runs across five innings.
Tyler VanGerpen (2-1) threw 5.0 innings and struck out three to earn the win. Laurent Zenonie collected a save.
Kye Winter (0-1) tossed 3.0 innings and gave up six earned runs on nine hits to take the loss.

Casey Jacobson each made appearances in relief.
Viger and Jack Goil each logged two hits for the Vikings, while Borchardt drove in two runs.
Augustana answered a three-run first inning by DU by scoring four in the top of the second. Borchardt drove in two runs on a double, Martinez slapped an RBI single and
Brian Knight registered a sacrifice fly.
The Panthers scored five runs throughout the second, third and fourth innings and led 8-4 heading into the fifth.
A Hansen double scored another Viking run in the fifth, and DU settled on a 9-5 lead with another run in the eighth.
Augustana and DU will play the final game of the series tomorrow at 1 p.m.
