FINAL RESULTS
MANKATO, Minn. – Augustana's men turned in a total of 10 points to tie for 22nd and the women earned four points to tie for 33rd at the NCAA Indoor National Championships at Myers Field House Saturday.
Runa Falch was the remaining Viking to finish competition for Augustana in Saturday's finals, but she did not finish the 5,000-meter run due to injury.
The Viking men earned their 10 points on Friday from Travis Beniak, Khor Kong, Henrik Hansson and Tom Karbo, which finished as the national champion in the distance medley relay by more than six seconds. The foursome circled the oval in a school-record 9 minutes, 49.06 seconds. The team beat the previous school record of 9:54.83 set earlier this season. The mark also broke the South Dakota state record.
The title was also the first national championship by a relay team in Augustana indoor track and field history.
On the women's side, Kyle Blakeslee, Colleen Everson, Kayla Mescher and Runa Falch finished the distance medley relay in 11:40.29 to place fifth and give the Vikings their four points on Friday.
