RESULTS
ORANGE CITY, Iowa - Katie Guse earned a title for Augustana at the Northwestern Invitational Saturday, winning the women's high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 4.25 inches; a mark two feet higher than the runner-up finisher.
The men saw an impressive 1-2 finish in the 110-meter hurdles. Paul Mallory won in 14.86 seconds and Gathin Veldhuizen was just behind in 14.88. Mallory also finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.04.
Phil Rien hit a mark of 21 feet, 5.25 inches in the long jump, which was good for second place. Dylan Buehler also took second, but in the javelin throw with a mark of 186 feet, 1 inch.
Annie Pfeifle and Molly Kokesh dominated the women's 1,500 meters, placing second and third respectively. Pfeifle recorded a time of 4 minutes, 41.90 seconds and Kokesh finished in 4:42.54. Maddy Jourgensen and Megan Brown took over the women's 5,000-meter run. Jourgensen clocked in at 18:04.2 to take second, while Brown was third in 18:24.3.
Jordan Slusser circled the oval in 4:01.98 to notch a third-place finish in the men's 1,500-meter run. He also logged a time of 1:57.91 in the 800-meter run to take eighth.
Alyssa Schmidt was third in the women's pole vault with a mark of 10 feet, 4 inches.
Shane McCallum ran the men's 5,000 meters in 15:15.8 to place third. TJ Gleason logged a time of 15:24.9 to take fifth.
Tor Myrhol was fourth in the men's pole vault with a mark of 12 feet, 9.50 inches.
Megan Erspamer sprinted the 400-meter hurdles in 1:11.11 to place fifth.
A leap of 34 feet, 3 inches earned Kirsten Noska fifth place in the women's triple jump.
Mary Hitchcock threw the javelin 99 feet, 8 inches; placing sixth.
Kirsten Nyberg finished fifth in the 200 meter dash (26.74) and seventh in the 100 meter dash (12.98).
Fifth in the 800 meters was LeAnn Severson (2:21.48) and Kokesh placed sixth (2:22.07).
Jacob Pohlmann recorded a mark of 6 feet, 3.25 inches in the high jump to tie for sixth. Rien was eighth with a jump of 6 feet, 1.25 inches.
Kelly Kougl notched a time of 4:55.31 to place sixth in the women's 1,500 meters.
Kirsten Ustad leaped 4 feet, 10.25 inches to take seventh in the women's high jump.
Also placing in the top eight in the men's 400 meters was Matt Winder in fifth (56.62), Skyler Kuil in sixth (56.80) and Veldhuizen in eighth (57.99).
Augustana travels to the Mount Marty Twilight Tuesday in Yankton, S.D.
