Karbo set to compete at 2012 USATF Oxy High Performance Meet

LIVE RESULTS | OLYMPIC QUALIFYING STANDARDS

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.
- Tom Karbo has been selected to compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2012 USA Track and Field Oxy High Performance Meet at Occidental College in Los Angeles, Calif.

Karbo's race begins at 9 p.m. central, and live coverage can be found here.

The meet will be made up of four events: the 3,000-meter steeplechase, 800 meters, 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters. Each event features both professional and collegiate athletes from the United States and around the world competing in an attempt to achieve the Olympic A or B standard.

The Olympic B standard in the 3,000-meter steeplechase is 8 minutes, 32 seconds. The time is 10 seconds faster than Karbo's current personal best of 8:42, which he achieved at last year's European U-23 Championships.

Karbo has met the qualifying standard for the Norwegian Championships set for this summer. He claimed the silver medal the previous two years at the championships. With a top finish and an Olympic B standard, Karbo could represent Norway at the Olympic Games in London.
