CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Augustana's
Jennifer Benoy,
Emily Kvidera, and
Maggie Leland have been selected to the National Golf Coaches Association's All-America Scholar Team for Division II.
A total of 585 women golfers in Division I, II, and III earned the prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the teams are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
A senior from St. Croix Falls, Wis., Benoy had a strong finish in 2011-12, including a fifth-place performance at the Central Region Championship. She placed 68th at the NCAA Championship. She is majoring in chemistry.
A junior from Alexandria, Minn., Leland was named the NSIC Golfer of the Year and All-NSIC in 2011-12 and was the conference medalist. She collected NSIC Golfer of the Week nods five times during the season. She tied for 13th at the NCAA Championships. A sport management major, she is the first CoSIDA Academic All-America recipient in the history of the Augustana women's golf program.
Kvidera, a senior from Blaine, Minn., was an All-America honorable mention honoree in 2010-11. During the 2011-12 season she was named All-NSIC and NSIC Golfer of the Week on April 18, and finished third at the NSIC Championship. She placed ninth at the 2012 national tournament. Kvidera is a business administration major.
All three Viking golfers were named to the Academic All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) team for the 2011-12 spring semester.
