Vikings finish tied for sixth after two rounds at NSIC Championship

BRAINERD, Minn.
– Augustana men's golf finished the fall portion of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Championship tied for sixth place through two rounds at The Classic at Madden's Resort in Brainerd, Minn. 

The Vikings recorded a 67-over-par 643 for the two rounds.  St. Cloud State currently sits in first place with a comfortable 15 shot lead over Minnesota State after posting a 15-over-par 599 through the first two rounds of play.

Clay Kopplin put together a solid round on Tuesday of 77, five-over-par.  Kopplin jumped up into a tie for 11th place after two rounds of the NSIC Championship.  The sophomore is 10 shots behind co-leaders Tyler Koivisto of St. Cloud State and Ross Miller of Minnesota State.

Tyler Jensvold bounced back on Tuesday and fired a 7-over-par 79, putting his two-day total at 18-over-par 162, good for a three-way tie for 26th in the tournament, with one being fellow teammate Drew Trautman.  The Clear Lake, S.D. native put up a 78 in the second round after recording an 84 on Monday.

Right behind Jensvold and Trautman is CJ Haukom.  Haukom is tied for 29th with a score of 19-over-par 163 through the first two rounds of the event.

John Grothe posted a 15-over par 87 on Tuesday, putting his total to 172 through two rounds.

Play for the NSIC Championships resumes in the spring with rounds three and four. 
                                                         
Augustana returns to the course for the Missouri Western Crossover at the St. Joseph Country Club on Oct. 13-14.
